October 4, 2012 – Chicago IL – “I love this game!” said Kim Kemmet after winning not one, but two lottery prizes playing Crossword, an Illinois Lottery Instant game. Kemmet played Crossword and won $25,000, then scratched another ticket three days later and won $1,000. “I buy one or two tickets a week because I think this game is fun,” Kemmet said.
The Roscoe resident works in retail sales at a furniture store. She and her husband Wade have three children. Their plans for the money include paying bills, buying new tires for Wade’s car and buying new living room carpeting. “Now that we won this prize, we’re going to do things we’ve wanted to do,” she said. This includes buying a 70 inch smart TV. “The new TV was Wade’s idea – I didn’t even know what a “smart” TV was!” Kemmet admitted to Lottery staff.
The $25,000 winning ticket was purchased at Rockton Mobil, 111 Blackhawk Boulevard in Rockton. The $1,000 winning ticket was purchased at Road Ranger, 11607 Main Street in Roscoe.
Prior to this, Kemmet’s largest lottery win was $150 on a Crossword ticket. She occasionally plays Lotto and Raffle. “I already have my Halloween Millionaire Raffle ticket,” she said. When asked if the lucky lottery winner had any advice for others, she said, “Play responsibly. If you’re feeling lucky, play a couple of tickets…because you just never know!”
