Forest Park, IL—January 14, 2013 — On Christmas Eve Denise Crawford used a penny to scratch her Blues Bingo instant ticket and instantly became $200,000 richer. The Forest Park resident said she is thrilled to celebrate three special events with a Lottery win. "This is the best Christmas-Birthday-New Year ever! I won on Christmas Eve, my birthday is December 29, and what a way to start the New Year!"
After realizing she was a big winner, Crawford signed the back of her ticket, hid it in her Bible, and called her mother with the good news. "My mom kept asking me if I was seeing the ticket right, she couldn't believe that I had won such a big prize." Crawford, 43, is a mail handler for the United States Post Office where she has worked for 25 years. She currently lives in an apartment and is looking forward to using some of her windfall to buy a house. "I will also donate to my favorite charities. This lottery win is a blessing."
Crawford bought her winning Blues Bingo ticket at Marathon Gas, 1427 South Harlem Avenue on Berwyn. The store will receive a $2,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket. Blues Bingo is a $5 instant ticket with a top prize of $200,000. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com
