Burnham, IL—April 29, 2013 —Greg Zalkowski couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw that his ticket matched all five numbers in the March 25 Lucky Day Lotto drawing. The numbers – 05 – 22 – 26 – 38 – 39 – stared up at him and he stared back in disbelief. “Sure, I play the Lottery, but I never thought I’d be this lucky,” he said. Zalkowski won $100,000 off of a single $1 Quick Pick ticket.
The Burnham resident – whose biggest lottery win before this one was $78 – told his wife about his win right away and she believed him. “I don’t joke around about this type of stuff so when I told her the good news, she instantly got excited,” he said.
Zalkowski has modest plans for his recent windfall. He plans to help fund the upcoming weddings for two of his daughters and pay for another daughter’s braces. “I’ll probably give my son a little cash too and pay off some bills,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Paradise Liquors, 544 Pulaski Road, in Calumet City. The retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket. Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are seven days a week with over 35,000 winners every day. That’s over 200,000 winners in Illinois every week! The Lucky Day Lotto drawing takes place every night at 9:22 p.m. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
