Chicago, IL— December 9, 2013 — The Mega Millions jackpot rolled Friday night and now stands at an estimated $344 million for tomorrow’s drawing. Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing produced the second $1million Match 5 winning ticket in Illinois since the game was enhanced in October.
While no one won the jackpot, an Oak Park gas station sold a winning ticket for the Friday Mega Millions drawing, meaning someone in the area could be $1,000,000 richer! The winner, who has yet to come forward, purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket at Roosevelt BP, 7140 West Roosevelt, and matched the first five numbers — 11 - 29 - 44 - 63 - 64 - (03) — in the Friday, December 6 drawing. Over 193,000 Illinoisans also won prizes ranging from $5,000 to $3.
The retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
In October, Mega Millions was revamped to include larger, faster growing jackpots; second-place prizes of at least $1million; and better odds of winning smaller cash prizes. The game retained its $1 ticket price, as well as the optional Megaplier (costs an extra $1) that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to five.
The Mega Millions drawing takes place Tuesday and Friday nights at 10:00 p.m. and the current estimated jackpot is $344,000,000. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
