Gary, IN—June 24, 2013 — “I have worked 20 years of my life without a day off. Now with this lottery prize, I will take my first vacation in two decades,” J.W. Bownes said after winning a $100,000 Lucky Day Lotto jackpot prize. Bownes’ Quick Pick ticket matched all five winning numbers — 03 - 08 - 28 - 30 - 35 — in the June 9 drawing.
“I made my wife check my ticket because it was her birthday. I told her she was my lucky charm.” Bownes bought his winning ticket at Mitchell’s Foods, 18202 Torrence Avenue, in Lansing, IL. The retailer received a $1,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
When asked if he has any advice for other Lottery players, Bownes said, “Don’t give up. If my prayer was answered so can yours.” Bownes will be taking his wife on a vacation to New Orleans.
Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are seven days a week with over 35,000 winners every day. That’s over 200,000 winners in Illinois every week! For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
