Cicero, IL—March 11, 2013—“It really was my lucky day,” said Robert Shindle after hitting the Lucky Day Lotto jackpot and winning $112,500. “I play my own numbers consisting of family birthdays and anniversaries. This time, I also played a Quick Pick and it was the Quick Pick that won.” Shindle’s Quick Pick matched all five numbers — 02-13-19-22-30 — in the Sunday February 24 Lucky Day Lotto drawing.
Shindle checked the winning Lucky Day Lotto numbers in the newspaper the next morning and saw that they matched the numbers on his ticket.
Shindle has lived in Carol Stream for 20 years and works in the maintenance department at an assisted living facility. He and his wife have six children and eight grandchildren. They plan to invest the winnings for their retirement. Shindle’s Lottery check will be for $78,750 after required state and federal withholding.
The winning ticket was purchased at Carol Liquor and Tobacco, 1037 Fountain View Drive in Carol Stream. The retailer will receive a $1,125 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket. There were two jackpot winning tickets from the February 24 Lucky Day Lotto drawing. The other winning ticket was purchased at The Pantry, 1105 West Bryn Mawr Avenue in Chicago. Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are seven days a week with over 35,000 winners every day. That’s over 200,000 winners in Illinois every week!
