Warrenville, IL—May 30, 2013 —“I know this sounds crazy, but my dog picked my winning Lottery numbers,” Elizabeth Borek told Illinois Lottery officials after claiming her $100,000 Lucky Day Lotto prize. “I was bored with my regular Lottery numbers so I wrote numbers on little cards and scattered them on the floor. Whichever cards my dog Toby touched, I picked up and I played those numbers,” Borek said. Toby, a 12 year old Shih Tzu, touched cards - 14 - 18 - 23 - 34 - 35 - which were the winning numbers in the February 27 Lucky Day Lotto drawing.
Borek plans to share the winnings with her son and buy a new car. “This is great timing because the transmission just broke on my car.” The winning ticket was purchased at Bucky’s Express, 28W050 Warrenville Road in Warrenville. The retailer received a $1,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
A regular Lucky Day Lotto player, Borek said her largest win prior to this was $10, adding, “I plan to keep playing and hope to win again!” And, yes, she’ll continue to have Toby select her Lucky Day Lotto numbers!
Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are seven days a week with over 35,000 winners every day. That’s over 200,000 winners in Illinois every week! The Lucky Day Lotto drawing takes place every night at 9:22 p.m. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
