Granite City, IL— November 25, 2013 — This Thanksgiving, Richard Dooley is feeling even more thankful than he has in years past. “I feel blessed to have the support of my family and friends… and now I won the lottery! I have so much to be thankful for,” he said when he presented his $500,000 winning Rockin’ Bingo instant ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Fairview Heights.

Six years ago Dooley, 41, was diagnosed with spinal cancer. “I’ve been through four major surgeries and I might have given up if I didn’t have my family and friends.” He plans to spend some of his $500,000 windfall on home renovations to better accommodate his wheelchair. He also plans to invest for his two children to go to college, install a hoist so he can more easily use his therapy pool, and donate to the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

A lifetime resident of Granite City “with no plans to ever leave,” Dooley bought his winning Rockin’ Bingo ticket at Alton BP, 1630 East Broadway in Alton and took it home to scratch it. Alton BP received a $5,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Rockin’ Bingo is a $10 instant ticket with a top prize of $500,000. There are still five Rockin’ Bingo top prizes of $500,000 available to be won. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
