Addison, IL—September 17, 2013 — When Giuseppe Anelli bought an Illinois Lottery 4th of July Millionaire Raffle ticket, he put it in the glove compartment of his car. “Sometimes I buy an instant ticket or a Lotto ticket and I put them in the glove compartment. But I forgot all about my Raffleticket!” Anelli won $1million in the 4th of July Millionaire Raffle grand prize drawing July 4.
The lucky lottery player was at a gas station two weeks ago when he opened his glove compartment and noticed the 4th of July Millionaire Raffle ticket. He took it into the store to scan it and the message ‘file a claim’ appeared on the screen. “I drove straight home to check the winning numbers on illinoislottery.com and there was my ticket number — 0657488. I was shocked! I’ve never won anything before this!”
Anelli and his wife have lived in Addison for 30 years. “When I told my wife that my Raffle ticket was a $1 million winner, she started jumping up and down!” The couple plan to pay off their house and invest in college funds for their three children.
The winning ticket was purchased at Addison Citgo, 1740 West Army Trail Road in Addison. The retailer received a $10,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket. When asked if he had any advice for other lottery players Anelli said, “I think Raffle gives you great odds of winning, so my advice is to buy a Halloween Raffle ticket.”
Halloween Millionaire Raffle tickets will go on sale September 22, and will include an early-bird drawing on Oct 3 when one ticket will be selected to win $500,000. Four $1million Halloween Raffle prizes will be selected on or about October 31. In addition, Halloween Raffle offers 5,000 instant-win prizes of $100 each. Halloween Raffle tickets cost $20 each.
The 4th of July Millionaire Raffle offered chances in multiple drawings--June 6, 13, 20 and 27--and the Grand Prize drawing was on July 4th. Two $1million prizes were awarded on July 4th. The second $1million 4th of July Raffle prize was claimed by Pitee Patel of Rockford, who bought the winning ticket in Machesney Park. Winning raffle numbers are available on the Illinois Lottery’s website at www.illinoislottery.com.
