CHICAGO, IL—September 27, 2013 — The Illinois Lottery launched its Halloween Millionaire Raffle this week at 8,200 Lottery retailers throughout the state. This year, the Halloween Raffle offers four $1 million prizes, a $500,000 early bird drawing, and up to 5,000 instant-win prizes worth $100 each. Halloween Raffle tickets will remain on sale until November 1, 2013, or until all raffle tickets are sold.
With only 500,000 raffle tickets available, and an early bird drawing on October 4, players are encouraged to buy their Halloween Raffle ticket early. Halloween Raffle offers players the best odds of winning a $1 million prize (four total prizes). As an added bonus, the Illinois Lottery will hold an early bird Raffle drawing on October 3 to award one lucky Raffle player $500,000.
Up to 5,000 players will also win $100 instantly if their ticket qualifies for an instant-win prize. Tickets that qualify for an instant $100 prize will be clearly marked as such on an addendum attached to the regular Raffle ticket (which should be retained by the player). Another indicator of an instant Raffle win will come from the Lottery ticket terminal, which will play a tune whenever an instant $100 winning Raffle ticket is printed.
The $100 instant-win prizes will be randomly printed on select Raffle tickets sold between Sept 22 and Nov 1 (or until all 500,000 Raffle tickets are sold). Halloween Raffle tickets cost $20 each. The final drawing on November 1 will be used to award four $1 million prizes.
Halloween Raffle is played like a typical raffle game. Each Halloween Raffle ticket contains a unique number automatically generated by the Lottery terminal. Raffle tickets are sold in sequential order throughout the state beginning with ticket number 000,001 and ending with ticket number 500,000. A player’s raffle ticket must exactly match one of the winning number sequences drawn in the October 3 and November 1 drawings. Players must be at least 18, and must retain their raffle ticket to claim a prize. The 5,000 instant win prizes of $100 each must be claimed at a Lottery retail location.
Meet up with the Illinois Lottery at a few ghoulish festivities this fall including the Champaign Zombie Run on Saturday, October 19 at Dodds Park 4 Plex, the Halloween Hustle in downtown Palatine on Saturday, October 26 and Nightmare on Chicago Street in downtown Elgin on Saturday, October 26. Participants will receive a free Plants vs. Zombies instant lottery ticket with the purchase of a Halloween Millionaire Raffle ticket and will get a chance to a spin on the prize wheel for free goodies from the Illinois Lottery. The lottery is the Presenting Sponsor for the Champaign Zombie Run, Skeleton Sponsor for the Elgin event and Finish Line Sponsor for the Palatine Halloween Hustle. Halloween Raffle tickets will be for sale at all of these events.
