Ottawa, IL— January 8, 2014 — “I thought it would be appropriate to wear this T-shirt to the Lottery office,” William Jansen said when he presented his winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Springfield. The lucky Ottawa resident matched all five numbers — 01 — 15 — 23 — 25 — 34 — to win $300,000 in the November 10 Lucky Day Lotto evening drawing.
Jansen said he plays one or two Lucky Day Lotto Quick Pick tickets when the jackpot is over $200,000. “I also like playing scratch tickets and my daughter teases me about it so she gave me this T-shirt for Christmas,” Jansen explained, adding that he buys two or three instant lottery tickets a week. Jansen is retired after working in quality control at Pilkington Glass in Ottawa for 37 years. He plans to share the windfall with his son and daughter. When asked if he had advice for other lottery players he said, “Try a Quick Pick, that’s what worked for me.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Phillips 66, 1848 North Division Street in Morris. The retailer will receive a $3,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are twice a day, seven days a week with over 40,000 winners every day. That’s over 250,000 winners in Illinois every week! For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
