CHICAGO – Jan 10, 2012 – A Lombard man was presented with a ceremonial check today for $1,000,000 from the Illinois Lottery. Scott Anetsberger bought his winning Merry Millionaire instant ticket at J&P Food in Villa Park. Scott is the first to claim one of three $1,000,000 grand prizes from the instant game.

This is not Scott’s first big win or million. “I won $1,000,000 about nine years ago from the Merry Millionaire game,” said Anetsberger. He plans on using his winnings to pay bills and send his two younger children to college.

J&P Food received a $6,000 bonus, one percent of the jackpot amount, for selling a winning ticket. Store manager, Pranav Patel was excited when he heard that they sold a winning Merry Millionaire ticket. “He’s a regular at our store and we’re happy that he won” Patel said.

As with all lottery games, proceeds will benefit the Common School Fund and the Capital Projects Fund. Last year, the Lottery transferred $690 million to the support education, capital projects and other good causes. To date, the Illinois Lottery has contributed $16.4 billion to support education in Illinois.
