Forest Park, IL—February 11, 2014 — “I’m going to use some of this money to pay for my wedding,” said bride-to-be Sharon Edwards when she presented her winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines. The lucky Forest Park resident won a $400,000 jackpot prize when the numbers on her ticket – 03 – 05 – 12 – 16 – 29 – were an exact match in the January 20 Lucky Day Lotto evening drawing.
Edwards has been engaged for one year and plans to get married this fall. An occasional Lucky Day Lotto player, she used family birthdates to choose her numbers. She discovered her win when she checked the winning numbers on illinoislottery.com. “I couldn’t believe it when the winning numbers matched the numbers on my ticket. I checked them again and again and I had my fiancée check them too!”
Edwards bought her winning ticket at BP, 7204 West Washington in Forest Park. The retailer will receive a $4,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are twice a day, seven days a week with an average of 40,000 winners every day. That’s over 250,000 winners in Illinois each week! For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
