Mount Prospect, IL— February 20, 2014— “It’s true, you only need one ticket to win the lottery,” Bradley Virta said after winning a $1million Powerball prize. The lucky Mount Prospect resident’s Quick Pick ticket matched the first five numbers – 09 – 33 - 54 - 56 - 57 - (05) - in the Saturday October 19 Powerball drawing.
Virta discovered his win when he checked the winning numbers on illinoislottery.com. “I waited to get some professional financial advice before I claimed my prize.” He plans to use the windfall to buy a house and invest for retirement.
An occasional Powerball player, Virta bought his winning ticket at 7-Eleven, 606 West North Highway in Mount Prospect. The retailer received a $10,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
Powerball drawings take place Wednesday and Saturday nights at 9:59 p.m. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
