Who can play the Illinois Lottery on the mobile site?

Anyone over 18 years of age who is a resident of Illinois and physically located in the state of Illinois at time of purchase, can play Illinois Lottery games on the mobile site.

Which games can I play using my mobile phone and how do I play?

You can play Powerball©, Mega Millions© and Lotto on your mobile phone. You must be connected to the Internet within the state of Illinois. You can connect to the internet via WiFi or through your mobile carrier (Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile or AT&T). Internet connection through a mobile carrier requires that players follow the steps opt in for the Mobile Device Geo-Location Service (“Device Geo-Location Service”). Once an internet connection is established, you can select the 'Play Now' buttons and begin to play.

What is the Mobile Device Geo-location Service?

It is a service the Illinois Lottery uses to verify that your device is located within the geographical boundaries of the State of Illinois. You must be located in the state of Illinois to play Illinois Lottery games on the internet. If you are using a cellular connection, the Device Geo-Location Service allows the Illinois Lottery to verify the location of your device. The Illinois Lottery will not verify the location of your device without your consent. Therefore you must first provide consent by opting in and accepting the Terms and Conditions for the Device Geo-Location Service.

How do I opt in to the Mobile Device Geo-Location Service?

Directions for New Players

If you are a new player, you can set up your online account after you build your play. During the process of creating your account, please follow the steps to opt in for the Device Geo-Location Service listed in the Terms and Conditions. You will need to provide your mobile number, choose your mobile carrier and opt in. You must then reply to the SMS message that will be sent to your phone confirming that you have opted in. Message and data rates apply to SMS messages. Once you have opted in, you can complete your purchase and continue to play Illinois Lottery games on your mobile phone without WiFi.

 

Directions for Returning Players

If you are a returning player, log in to your Illinois Lottery online account, visit My Account>> Personal Preferences >> Mobile Preferences and follow the directions on the screen. You will need to provide your mobile number, choose your mobile carrier and opt in. You must then reply to the SMS message that will be sent to your phone confirming that you have opted in. Message and data rates apply to SMS messages. Once you have opted in, you can play Illinois Lottery games on your mobile phone without WiFi.

How will I know that my mobile opt in is complete?

You will receive a confirmation text on your mobile phone which you must respond to in order to complete the opt in process. After this response, your “Current Mobile Status” will appear as “Opted In.”

Are all mobile providers available for mobile opt in?

Currently, mobile opt in is available for AT&T, T- Mobile, Sprint and Verizon only.

My mobile provider isn’t listed, can I still play Illinois Lottery games on my mobile phone?

Yes! You can still play Illinois Lottery games on your mobile phone using ONLY a WiFi internet connection.

Do I need to change my phone settings to use Mobile device GEO-location service?

If you are an iPhone5 user on the AT&T network, you will need to disable the LTE functionality from your phone to allow our services to locate your device within the Illinois state borders. This is done by going to SETTINGS, Tap on GENERAL, Tap on CELLULAR, Toggle Enable LTE to Off.

Will you be adding more mobile providers to this list in the future?

We do not have any current plans to add new mobile providers.

What happens if I change my mobile number or my mobile carrier?

If either you change your mobile phone number or mobile carrier, you must update this information in your Illinois Lottery online account. Log into your account, visit My Account>> Personal Preferences >> Mobile Preferences, update your information and press “Submit.” You will get a confirmation message once your update is successful.

Will the Illinois Lottery Mobile Device Geo-Location Service send me texts?

You will receive no more than one text per month for ongoing account verification. Message and data rates may apply to SMS texts.

Can I opt out of the Mobile Device Geo-Location Service?

Yes. You have two options: If you are in your Illinois Lottery online account, visit My Account>> Personal Preferences >> Mobile Preferences and select “No/Opt Out” and press the “Submit” button. If you had previously opted in, follow the same instructions above AND uncheck the box specifying that you are opting in for Mobile Device Geo-Location Services” and press submit. You will get a message confirming opt out. You can also text STOP to 77147 to opt out. Message and data rates may apply to SMS texts. Remember that if you opt out, you will only be able to play using your WiFi connection ONLY.

Do I need an account to play on the mobile site?

Yes. You must create an Illinois Lottery account to play Illinois Lottery games online. You can register on your mobile device, it only takes a few minutes to complete.

If I created an account online, do I need to create an account on mobile as well?

No. You only need one Illinois Lottery account. If you signed up online via your desktop computer you can use that same account.

Can I check my account from my mobile device?

Yes. Sign in and tap 'Account' from the 'Menu' tab. You can view your account information, game history, manage your payment sources and collect your winnings from your mobile device.

How many tickets can I buy on the mobile site?

You can purchase up to 10 tickets at a time. Tickets are for a single draw. If you would like to play for more draws, please go to the subscription section of the full site to find out how.

How do I choose my numbers?

You have two options to choose your numbers.

Quick Pick: The first option allows you to tap Quick Pick from the Powerball, Mega Millions and Lotto pages and numbers are randomly selected for you.

Choose Your Own Numbers: The second option is to choose your own numbers. Choose your own numbers on the Powerball, Mega Millions and Lotto pages by tapping on the square underneath Ticket 1. A pop up number grid will appear and a message will instruct you to choose your numbers. Select your numbers by tapping each number on the grid. Once selected, the numbers will change to another color. If playing Powerball or Mega Millions, a second message will instruct you to pick your Powerball or Megaball number. Once all numbers are selected, you're done!

How do I clear the numbers I selected?

To clear your numbers, simply tap the "Clear All Numbers" button underneath your tickets.

Is there a minimum purchase amount?

Yes. Minimum purchase amount is $5.

Can I cancel my purchase?

No. Once a ticket purchase is placed it cannot be canceled. Make sure to double check your selections before you hit 'Submit.'

How do I know if I won?

If you play Illinois Lottery games via your mobile device and your numbers win, an email will be sent to the email address on file in your Illinois Lottery account to alert you of your win. You can find winning numbers on the www.illinoislottery.com homepage and you can also search in the Illinois Lottery winning numbers history search in the full site .

How do I claim my prizes?

Prizes under $600 will be paid directly into your Illinois Lottery account and you'll be able to access those funds via ACH transfer to your bank account or a check can be mailed to you upon request. Prizes over $600 must, by law, be reported for tax purposes. Prizes over $600 can be claimed by visiting an Illinois Lottery claim center. Instructions on processing your claim will be provided in your winner announcement email.

Is there a risk of technical problems while playing lottery games on the mobile site?

From time to time, access to the mobile site may be unavailable, delayed, limited or slowed due to acts of God, power interruption, maintenance or software failure.

Who do I contact if I have questions or concerns while playing on the mobile site?

Is all site functionality available on the mobile site?

You must be located in the state of Illinois to play Illinois Lottery games on the internet. If you are using a cellular connection, mobile geo-location service allows the Illinois Lottery to verify your location. The Illinois Lottery will not use your cellular connection without your permission therefore in order for the Illinois Lottery to use geo-location, you must first provide permission by opting in to the mobile geo-location service.

EXTENDED PLAY

What is Extended Play?

Extended Play is the ability to set up automatic multi-plays online. You can select multi-draw and choose between 2 and 25 subsequent drawings or select a 13, 26 or 52 week subscription for Powerball, Mega Millions or Lotto. For Lucky Day Lotto you can set-up a subscription between 2 and 12 weeks or select a longer subscriptions of 13, 26 or 52 weeks.

Do I still get a discount on 26 week or 52 week subscriptions?

Yes! You will still get a discount with the 26 or 52 week options.

Can I select auto-renew for Extended Play?

You can select the auto-renew option on any subscription, including the Lucky Day Lotto subscriptions, but you cannot select auto-renew for multi-draw.

Will the same numbers be played for Extended Play.

Yes. The original numbers you select when you purchase your Extended Play will be played for each subsequent drawing.

Is Extended Play available on mobile too?

Yes. You choose the number of drawings on both the desktop and mobile sites.

 

SHOPPING CART

How does the shopping cart work?

The shopping cart allows you to purchase more than one game in a single purchase. Once you’ve built your tickets, just click “Add to Cart” and you can continue to add more games to your cart.

Is there still a $5 minimum purchase for online play?

Yes, there still is a $5 minimum, but with the shopping cart, you can purchase multiple games to reach the $5 minimum. You do not have to spend the $5 minimum for each game. The minimum now applies to all of the games selected and placed in the shopping cart for purchase.

Can I delete items once I’ve added them to my shopping cart?

Yes. Simply, select the “Delete” option and the item will be removed from your cart.

Can I view everything that I purchased with one shopping cart purchase?

Purchases are not currently grouped by shopping cart in your transactions history. You can see every purchase in “Game History” and you can see each shopping cart purchase in “Financial History.”

After I made my purchase, I got a notice that said one of my purchases failed and the balance was refunded to my account. How can I check?

Log-in to your account and go to Financial History. Here you should see a credit to your account in the amount of the failed purchase.

I put items in my shopping cart, but when I tried to check out my purchase was gone. What happened?

The shopping cart will time-out after an extended period of time and will be re-set to empty. Once you build your selections, make sure to check out before the time-out window so your selection is not lost.

Are responsible gaming limits applicable to the shopping cart?

Yes. Responsible gaming limits do apply to shopping cart purchases. The only exception is when subscriptions are included and the limits do not apply. To find gaming limits, log-in to your account, go to “My Account” and select “My Purchase Limits.”

Is the shopping cart available on mobile too?

Yes. You can add items to the shopping cart on mobile as well as desktop.

 

PROMOTIONAL CODES

How do promotional codes work?

Unique promotional codes can be used for discount purchases. Codes must be entered exactly as written

Where can I find a promotional code?

When there is an active promotion, unique promotional codes will be distributed to players.

Are there promotional codes for subscriptions?

No. Promotional codes will only be used for single purchases or multi-draw.

I received a free ticket, where can I find my free ticket?

If you received a free ticket as the result of a promotion, the free tickets can be found in your Game History. Just go to “My Account,” select “My Transactions” and you will land on the “Game History” tab.

I received a credit to my account, where can I find it?

Check your financial history to see any credits to your account.
