CHICAGO – September 7th – The Illinois Lottery launched $200 Million Cash Spectacular, part of its brand new family of more entertaining and winnable instant games, today in Chicago with a little help from former Chicago Bulls and Comcast SportsNet commentator Stacey King.

$200 Million Cash Spectacular will have the largest instant payout of any $10 game in Illinois Lottery history and will award 25 top prizes of $1,000,000 with over $200,000,000 in total cash prizes. This instant game also offers a second-chance drawing for players to win a chance to compete at regional basketball Free Throw contests where they can win cash prizes for themselves and their local school districts.

“The Illinois Lottery is a huge support of education in Illinois. Our schools need support right now, and that’s why I am proud to help the Lottery launch this game today,” Stacey King said. “This is a game changer for the Illinois Lottery.”

This historic instant game will award prizes to 7.6 million Illinoisans. The Illinois Lottery is bringing Cash Spectacular right into the local communities all over Illinois with local and regional second-chance contests culminating in a final competition this December where one randomly drawn lucky finalist will win a chance to throw a half-court basketball shot for a $1,000,000 Grand Prize.

“$200 Million Cash Spectacular is the biggest and most spectacular instant game ever to come to Illinois,” said Connie Laverty O’Connor, CEO of Northstar Lottery Group, the newly appointed private manager of the Illinois Lottery. “This instant game has been tested globally and it will change the winning experience for our players. We’re offering more prizes at all levels with over $62,000,000 in prizes of $100 to $20,000. We are delivering what our players have asked for with this mega prizes game.”

The Illinois Lottery estimates that this game alone will raise more $35,000,000 to support Illinois schools and capital projects. Last year, Illinois students and schoolrooms receive nearly $632 million with $54 million going to the Capital Projects Fund.
