SPRINGFIELD--April 28, 2011--Joe and Anieta Trame of Mattoon are planners, and have been for most of their 35 years of marriage. They know exactly what they want in their “dream home”, and know what their spouse wants, too. Now, thanks to a recent $250,000 Mega Millions win, the couple is on the verge of making their dream a reality.

“It came just at the right time, said Joe, 56. “It’s really a dream come true,” said Anieta, 54. It’s interesting to note that, when interviewed separately, Joe stresses the benefits a new house will bring to Anieta, while Anieta talks about how it will improve Joe’s quality of life. Perhaps thinking of one’s spouse first is the real foundation for a dream house--although the $250,000 Lottery windfall will help with the financial end of things.

Joe and Anieta currently live in a character- and antique-filled house built in the 1890s on Mattoon’s west-side. While they love their old home, they have for several years discussed and planned for a new house that will better meet their changing lifestyle. Now, thanks to their Lottery win, the Trames will get the ball rolling and put their current house on the market within the next six months.

The Trames’ current home has 2nd-floor bedrooms, with laundry facilities in the basement. That equals a lot of stairs to traverse, especially if you’ve had knee surgery, which Anieta did a couple years back. Consequently, a first-floor master bedroom is on the couple’s must-have list. Same with a 3-car garage and a large basement, which will be used to display a 1950s model-train collection that Joe shares and enjoys with the couple’s two grandchildren. Finally, four bedrooms is a must in the Trames’ dream home.

Those bedrooms will be occupied from time to time with the Trames’ children and grandchildren. Son Trever, 32, and his wife, Katie, live in the Chicago area and have two young children who love to visit their grandparents in Mattoon The Trames’ younger son, Brent, 27, is an attorney in St. Louis. He is getting married on New Year’s Eve to a lovely young woman named Lindsey Garretson. The Trames joyfully anticipate more grandchildren will result from this blessed union.

“It’s really all about the grandchildren,” said Anieta, who works as librarian in Mattoon’s Middle School. “We’ve been blessed and lucky.” Lucky, too, in winning $250,000 in Mega Millions. Joe hopes that Lottery luck will strike again. He has been playing, and winning smaller prizes, for 22 years in the Lotto game (for which he uses family birthdays and other milestones to select the numbers). Joe says he’s not about to stop playing Lotto now!

The Trames’ winning $250,000 Mega Millions ticket (a quick-pick, with computer-selected numbers) was sold at the BP station at 1202 Charleston in Mattoon. The station will receive a $2,500 bonus for selling the winning ticket. The winning numbers from the April 15 Mega Millions drawing are: 22-23-33-39-48-{29}. Mega Millions is drawing Tuesday and Friday, and offers nine ways to win prizes by matching as few as one number (the last number, the Mega Ball).
