Chicago – September 25, 2012 – Chicago White Sox fan Chevelle Baker-Hall took her brother out to the ball game today for a very special celebration. The Harvey resident played the Illinois Lottery’s MLB White Sox instant game and won a top prize of 2013 Chicago White Sox Season Tickets. Illinois Lottery Superintendent Michael Jones presented Baker-Hall with a ceremonial White Sox game ticket at today’s White Sox-Cleveland Indians game held at US Cellular field.
“I bought this ticket because my brother Anthony is a BIG White Sox fan,” Baker-Hall said. “He’ll be going to most all of the games with me next year.” She purchased her winning ticket at the Marathon station at 2 East 159th Street in Harvey. She said she waited until she got home to scratch her MLB White Sox ticket, and when she saw that she was a winner, she called her brother right away to come over and double check it.
“When we launched our special baseball instant game, we expected fans to be attracted to the beautiful ticket graphics representing the Cubs, Cards, and White Sox. We hoped that people would like the chance to risk $2 to win World Series tickets, $25K, or, for a serious White Sox fan, season tickets, said Lottery Supt Michael Jones. Congratulations to Chevelle and her brother for taking a chance. They are living proof ‘That Anything’s Possible’.”
“The White Sox are thrilled to partner with the Illinois Lottery on the Major League Baseball instant ticket series,” said Brooks Boyer, White Sox senior vice president of sales and marketing. “This is yet another fun way to engage with Sox fans throughout the state of Illinois.”
The Illinois Lottery offers a MLB instant game for Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals. Top prizes include 2013 season tickets and top cash prizes of $25,000. Additional prizes include two all-expense paid trips for four fans to the 2012 World Series. The games also offer two ways to qualify for the World Series, the standard second chance lottery used by thousands of players or a unique entry for anyone playing Mega Millions or the lottery’s first in the nation Internet Lottery Test.
A few lucky Lottery players may also be holding on to winning tickets. There are unclaimed season tickets on one MLB Chicago White Sox instant ticket and two Chicago Cubs MLB instant tickets.
The three-game $2 instant ticket series is available at more than 8,100 lottery retailers throughout the state. As with all lottery tickets, proceeds from these tickets benefit the Common School Fund and Capital Projects Fund.
Founded in 1974, the Illinois Lottery has contributed over $18 billion to the state’s Common School Fund to assist K-12 public schools, as well as hundreds of millions of dollars to the Capital Projects Fund and to special causes like Illinois Veterans, the fight against breast cancer, MS research, and assistance for people living with HIV/AIDS. In addition to playing in-store, the Illinois Lottery offers online and mobile play for Mega Millions, Powerball and Lotto at www.illinoislottery.com. Players must be at least 18 years old.
