DuQuoin, IL August 25, 2012— The Illinois Lottery will host a free concert Monday night at the DuQuoin State Fair featuring Bret Michaels. Bandana-wearing Michaels, lead singer for the popular band Poison, will offer over 7,500 fans a chance to close out their summer with a rocking good time. The much anticipated show will begin at 7:30 pm Monday at the fairgrounds’ grandstand.
“The Lottery is pleased to sponsor the Bret Michaels concert this year at the Fair,” said Michael Jones, Superintendent of the Illinois Lottery. “We wanted to bring some excitement and joy to southern Illinois, so we decided to pick up the tab for a concert by one of the hardest working and talented performers in rock and roll, Bret Michaels. I know Bret will deliver an amazing show.”
In addition to sponsoring the concert, the Illinois Lottery has been onsite at the DuQuoin State Fair handing out prizes, free bandanas and offering attendees an opportunity to participate in one of its largest summer promotions of all time -- Anything’s Possible. This promotion encourages people from across the state to meet up with the Lottery to film personalized video messages stating why they believe anything’s possible. In mid-September, the Lottery will randomly select a video and award a Lottery fan with a $25,000 Anything’s Possibleprize, customized to turn their possibility into a reality.
This summer promotion is part of the Lottery’s new brand campaign Anything’s Possible that taps into the reality that optimism is alive and well in Illinois. The campaign conveys the sense that within all of us there is the capacity to view our world as a place where everyday events suggest opportunity and that anything is possible.
“Each and every day of their lives, people open themselves to the possibilities that surround them. When opportunities avail, these optimistic doers are ready,” said Jones. “Our brand campaign, Anything’s Possible, was inspired by these positive people.”
Founded in 1974, the Illinois Lottery has contributed over $18 billion to the state’s Common School Fund to assist K-12 public schools, as well as hundreds of millions of dollars to the Capital Projects Fund and to special causes like Illinois Veterans, the fight against breast cancer, MS research, and assistance for people living with HIV/AIDS. In addition to playing in-store, the Illinois Lottery offers online and mobile play for Mega Millions, Powerball and Lotto at www.illinoislottery.com. Players must be at least 18 years old.
