Record Week For Lottery Winners:

Instant winners claim $23.1 M; Drawing games produce $12.5 M in winnings

CHICAGO – March 1, 2012 - Taking a vacation, buying a new house and paying bills are just some of the ways the most recent winners of the Illinois Lottery's draw and instant games plan to spend the more than $35.6 million in prizes won during the last full week of February (Feb. 17-Feb. 25).

Last week's draw-based game winnings included three match-5 Powerball prizes of $1,000,000 and three Powerball prizes of $10,000 each. Little Lotto winning tickets totaled $1,374,704. Pick 3 and Pick 4 winning tickets totaled $6,543,050.

In total, draw-based game winnings from all drawings held in last week were $12,490,724. Winners have one year from the date of the drawing to claim the prizes from those tickets.

Additionally, $23,149,663 in instant (or scratch) game cash prizes were paid last week. According to Lottery policy, instant games are closed when all top prizes are claimed, and players have one year from the official game closure date to redeem a winning ticket.
