Alsip, IL—July 17, 2013 — “It was Father’s Day, so I treated myself and bought five Lucky Day Lotto tickets,” Paul Riley told Illinois Lottery staff when he visited the Des Plaines Prize Center to present his $500,000 winning ticket. Riley recently checked his ticket at a store and was shocked to discover that his numbers — 11 - 13 - 14 - 23 - 28 — were a perfect match in the June 16 Lucky Day Lotto evening drawing. After having the clerk verify the win, he immediately signed the back of his ticket. “I still can’t believe I won half a million dollars,” he said.

The lucky Alsip resident is married with three daughters. “My wife screamed and cried when I told her that we won,” he said. Plans for the winnings include investing, but Riley’s first priority is a family trip to Disney World in Florida. “This Lottery win means I can take my girls to Disney for the first time. We’ve always wanted to go, and now we can.”

Riley was visiting family in Lockport on Father’s Day when he stopped at Lockport Shell to get gas and Lucky Day Lotto Quick Pick tickets. Lockport Shell, located at 518 South State Street, will receive a $5,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

“My advice to other Lottery players is to take a chance. You can’t win if you don’t have a ticket.”

Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are now twice a day, seven days a week with over 35,000 winners every day. That’s over 200,000 winners in Illinois every week! For more information, please visit
