Marseilles, IL—April 26, 2013 —“I just about fell over… and I’m still in shock!” Gayle Holcomb said when she turned in her winning $1,000 A Week For Life instant ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Rockford. The Marseilles resident was sitting in her car when she used a lucky penny to scratch the ticket and instantly won $1,000 a week for life. Today, Illinois Lottery officials presented her an oversized check for $762,000.

“Right away I showed the ticket to my daughter and asked her if I was seeing it right,” she said. When her daughter double-checked the ticket and confirmed the win, Holcomb immediately signed the back of the ticket and put it in a safe place. Married with seven children and 14 grandchildren, she plans to share the winnings with family. “Sharing this money with my family was the first thing I thought of.”

An occasional lottery player, Holcomb said her biggest win prior to this was $10. When asked if she had any advice to offer other players she said, “Keep playing, good things really can happen. This is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K, 290 Main Street in Marseilles. The store will receive a $7,620 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket. Holcomb chose the one-time cash option of $762,000.

The Lottery offers a number of versions of the Cash for Life instant game including games with top prizes of $500, $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 a-week-for-life. The newest member of the Cash for Life family, 20X20, offers a top prize of $20,000 a week for 20 years. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
