Chicago, IL—February 6, 2013— “I love Lucky Day Lotto!  One day I’m grocery shopping and the next day I’m winning the lottery!” said Marchelle Wichols-Baker after winning $325,000 playing Lucky Day Lotto.  The Chicago resident matched all five numbers – 05 – 22 – 35 – 37 – 38 – in the January 17 drawing.

Wichols-Baker used her cell phone to look up the drawing results on the Illinois Lottery website (  She almost dropped her phone after seeing that the winning ticket was sold at Dominick’s in Evanston.  “I just went shopping there!  I kept thinking that it couldn’t be me… it couldn’t be me… so I ran to get my ticket and checked the numbers …and it was me!”

That evening, she and her husband Philip double-checked the winning numbers, signed the back of the ticket, and put it in a small safe.  Currently living in an apartment, the couple plans to use the winnings to purchase a house.

The winning ticket, a $1 Quick Pick, was purchased at Dominick’s Finer Food located at 1910 Dempster in Evanston.   The store received a $3,250 bonus for selling a winning ticket.

Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are seven days a week with over 35,000 winners every day. That’s over 200,000 winners in Illinois every week! The Lucky Day Lotto drawing takes place every night at 9:22 p.m. For more information, please visit
