Flora, IL— December 19, 2013 — “I knew I’d get lucky with the lottery one day, and this was the day!” Doug Anderson said when he presented his winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Fairview Heights. The lucky lottery player won the $500,000 jackpot prize after matching all five numbers — 08 — 19 — 24 — 29 — 35 — in the December 4 Lucky Day Lotto midday drawing.

Anderson, a factory worker, is a lifelong resident of Flora. A regular Lucky Day Lotto player, he always uses the same set of numbers. “I just chose some random numbers about three years ago and I’ve been playing them ever since.” His plans for the windfall include helping his daughter, currently a senior in high school, pay for college. He also plans to invest.

The winning ticket was purchased at Discount Tobacco Warehouse, 523 West North Avenue in Flora. “I was at Discount Tobacco when I checked my ticket and the clerk was very excited for me. She said they knew they had sold the winning ticket and were wondering who the big winner was.” The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are twice a day, seven days a week with over 40,000 winners every day. That’s over 250,000 winners in Illinois every week! For more information, please visit
