LaGrange Park, IL—February 12, 2013— Michael Murphy usually buys a couple of instant lottery tickets on Saturdays, and  uses a coin to scratch them.  He plays for fun and hopes to win a few bucks here and there.  When he scratched a new ticket from the Illinois Lottery, Lucky Start, he couldn’t believe he had won the top prize.  “I was screaming!  I couldn’t believe I had won!”  After his wife Laura double-checked the ticket, Michael immediately signed the back of it.  “Then I kept it with me every second.  When I was awake, it was in my pocket and when I to bed, I slept with the ticket under my mattress!”

Michael and Laura have lived in LaGrange Park for twenty years.  They plan to use their winnings to pay bills and help their three sons pay for college.  They will also travel to Tuscany, Italy next January for a family wedding.  “Before this Lottery win, we would not have been able to go to this wedding; there was no way.  What a difference a day makes!”

The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven, 9205 West Cermak Road, in North Riverside.  “I just had to buy this ticket, it has the word ‘lucky’ right in the name,” said Murphy.  The store will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling a winning ticket.

Lucky Start is a new $5 game that features the popular match-number game play with several fun twists:  Those that reveal a money bag symbol automatically win the prize shown; uncover a double money-sign symbol and win double the prize shown; get a 5X symbol and win five times the prize shown! Overall odds of winning on Lucky Start are 1-in-4.10. For more information, please visit
