Joliet, IL—July 5, 2013— “My family put lottery tickets in my birthday card, and we were all together when I scratched the Blues Bingo ticket and won $200,000,” Michael Carpanzano told Illinois Lottery staff when he presented his top prize winning Blues Bingo instant ticket at the Des Plaines Prize Center. “We still can’t believe I won such a big prize!”
Carpanzano celebrated his 27th birthday with his parents and brother on Father’s Day. He plans to use the winnings “to make memories” which will include a family vacation in Italy, where his mother was born. “I want to use this money for some great family experiences,” he said.
A resident of Joliet, Carpanzano is President of the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce. When asked if he had any advice for other Lottery players he said, “Have fun and take a chance!”
The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven, 1500 North 9th Avenue, in Melrose Park. The store will receive a $2,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket. Blues Bingo is a $5 instant ticket with a top prize of $200,000. There are six $200,000 prizes not yet claimed in the game. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
