Chicago, IL— December 11, 2013 — The Mega Millions jackpot rolled last night and now stands at an estimated $400 million for Friday’s drawing– making this the second-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history, and the fifth-largest ever in North America.

The winning numbers from Tuesday’s drawing were: 05 - 12 - 22 - 41 - 65 and the Mega Ball was 13. The current jackpot has been growing since Oct. 1 and has rolled 20 times without a grand-prize winner. While no one won last night’s jackpot, over 255,000 Illinoisans won prizes ranging from $5,000 to $3.

Illinoisans who want to get in on the game but are trying to stay warm in this frigid weather can purchase their tickets online or on their mobile phone via their mobile carriers’ Internet (3G, 4G and LTE) connection at The mobile-play convenience is currently available to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless customers. Lottery players who do not use these carriers can still play via mobile devices by using a Wi-Fi connection. Players can also purchase their tickets at more than 8,200 retailers across the state.

Friday’s $400 million jackpot is the largest since recent changes were made to Mega Millions that include larger starting jackpots, a million-dollar second prize, and a new matrix of 1-75 for the first five numbers and 1-15 for the Mega Ball number. One thing that did not change is the price of a Mega Millions ticket: still $1.

At the time of yesterday’s drawing, total Mega Millions sales in Illinois totaled $26.6 million. An estimated $10.6 million has been allocated for the Common School Fund during this jackpot run alone. Since Illinois introduced its first multi-state lottery game, Mega Millions (previously the Big Game) has contributed over $1 billion to the Illinois Common School Fund and Capital Projects Fund.
