Oak Forest, IL—July 8, 2013 — Celso Rivera said he won the lottery thanks to his lucky charm -- his wife. “I finally listened to my wife and played the lottery. I still can’t believe I won $325,000.” Rivera was on his way home when he stopped at a gas station and remembered his wife saying ‘don’t forget to play today’, said the Oak Forest resident.

That evening Rivera and his wife watched the news to check the winning Lucky Day Lotto evening numbers. When he saw that his ticket matched all five numbers — 15 - 21 - 34 - 37 - 39 — he immediately went to www.illinoislottery.com to confirm the win. “I kept staring at the screen. That night I was so nervous and excited I couldn’t sleep,” he said. The following day Rivera went to the gas station for yet another confirmation. “The manager who checked my ticket gave me a huge smile, and at that second I knew it was real, and felt assured.”

Rivera’s wife said they plan to share their winnings with their three children, and possibly travel to their native country of Puerto Rico. When asked if Rivera had any advice for other Lottery players he responded, “Keep playing because you may get lucky when you least expect it.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Oak Forest Shell, 16702 South Cicero Avenue, in Oak Forest. The retailer received a $3,250 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
