Waukegan, IL— January 22, 2013—Monroe Dixon plays Lucky Day Lotto once or twice a week, and always buys his tickets at his neighborhood lottery retailer, Rashmi Quick Mart.   After hearing that a big prize winning lottery ticket had been purchased at Rashmi, Dixon checked the Illinois Lottery website and discovered his win.  "I thought maybe, just maybe, the winner could be me.  When the numbers on the website matched my numbers, it was quite a shock!"  Dixon won $100,000 by matching all five numbers - 04 - 21 - 27 - 30 - 35 - in the January 9 Lucky Day Lotto drawing.

"I have no idea why I played these numbers, I just chose them randomly," said Dixon.   "As soon as I knew I won, I signed my ticket, put it in an envelope and called my wife."   He and his wife, Jacquelyn, have lived in Waukegan for 30 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren.  Plans for the winnings include donating to their church, paying bills and possibly taking a vacation.

When asked if he had any advice for other lottery players Dixon said, "I will definitely keep playing the lottery because now that I won, I feel like I'm good at it!  I say keep trying, you just might win."

Rashmi Quick Mart is located at 314 South Lewis Avenue in Waukegan. The store received a $1,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are seven days a week with over 35,000 winners every day. That's over 200,000 winners in Illinois every week! The Lucky Day Lotto drawing takes place every night at 9:22 p.m. For more information, please visit
