Crete, IL—May 1, 2013 — It was March 15, just two days before the Illinois Lottery’s St. Patrick’s Day Millionaire Raffle drawing, when Michael Korzenecki decided to purchase a St. Pat’s Raffle ticket. “I was on my way to play a round of golf with friends when it dawned on me that I forgot to play this game,” Korzenecki said. “So I made a bee-line for the store before the tickets sold out. ”

It took the Munster, Indiana, resident less than 30 minutes to drive to Crete. “I almost didn’t stop because I thought I’d be late to the golf course, but I had a strong feeling to stop anyway,” he said. Luckily for Korzenecki, there were still tickets available. That decision paid off nicely when Korzenecki won $100,000 after his raffle ticket –number 411080 – was selected in the random drawing on St. Patrick’s Day. He discovered his win when he checked the Illinois Lottery’s website. “I’m so happy I decided to buy that ticket. Now I’m $100,000 richer!” he exclaimed.

Korzenecki, an electrician for Metra, has been moderately playing Lottery games for years. “I don’t play the lottery too often, but when I do, I always make sure I pick up a ticket or two in Illinois,” said the dual-state lottery player. He plans to purchase some audio equipment and invest his winnings. “I’m so thankful for this win,” Korzenecki said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Crete Foods and Liquor, 940 East Steger Road, in Crete. The store received a bonus of $1,000 for selling the winning raffle ticket.

The St. Patrick’s Day Millionaire Raffle offered four $1 million prizes, five $100,000 prizes, and 500 $1,000 prizes. A total of 509 winning tickets were drawn on March 17, 2013. Lottery players who purchased a St. Patrick’s Day Millionaire Raffle ticket can check the Lottery website, or visit one of the Lottery’s 8,100 retailers across the state to see if they are one of the 509 lucky winners.

Raffle tickets cost $20 and were sold in sequential order at Lottery retailers. Winners can claim their prizes at one of five Illinois Lottery Claim Centers located in Chicago, Des Plaines, Fairview Heights, Rockford and Springfield. Raffle winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize.
