Lincoln, IL—April 22, 2014 — When Lita Gannon stopped at the Lincoln Ayerco to fill her gas tank she did not expect to fill her bank account too! The life-long Lincoln resident won $250,000 when she scratched an Illinois Lottery $250,000 Jackpot instant ticket.
Gannon, 57, is married with two children and seven grandchildren. “My husband has been ill and off work. This is such great timing; this lottery win will give us some peace of mind.” Gannon was on her way to the hospital to visit her husband when she stopped at Ayerco. “I was thinking that I sure could use some help so I bought this ticket. When I saw that I won $250,000, I started to cry right there in the middle of the store!” She plans to use some of the windfall to pay bills and put the remainder in the bank. “Winning this prize is unbelievable. I feel very fortunate,” Gannon said.
Lincoln Ayerco, 705 Woodlawn Road in Lincoln, will receive a $2,500 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
$250,000 Jackpot is a $5 instant ticket with over $30 million in prizes. Five of the top prizes of $250,000 have not yet been claimed. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
