Chicago, IL – April 7, 2014 – “Animals are loveable creatures that deserve to be treated as members of the family, just like my 10-year old Labrador Retriever. I’m happy this lottery win will allow me to donate to an animal rights charity,” said Marta Paciorek when she presented her $4million winning 50X The Cash instant ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines.

The lucky Chicago resident bought two 50X The Cash instant tickets.  She was at home when she scratched the first ticket and instantly became a millionaire.  “My husband and I were in such shock over the $4million win, we completely forgot to scratch the other ticket!”

Paciorek, 41, is originally from Poland and has been living in the United States for over 20 years.  She started an insurance company together with her husband and a family friend. Her plans for the windfall include sharing with her family and donating to the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.  When asked what advice she would offer other lottery players she said, “Remember to share your good fortune.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Jay’s Food & Liquor, 5226 North Nagle Avenue, in Chicago.  The retailer will receive $40,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket. Paciorek chose the one-time cash option payment of $2,400,000 prior to withholding. To commemorate her win, Lottery officials today presented Paciorek an oversized check at Jay’s Food & Liquor store.

50X The Cash is a $20 instant ticket with more than $45 million in prizes ranging from $50 to $100,000. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
