Loves Park, IL—April 14, 2014 — “I thought it would be fun to get a giant Lottery check right before tax day!” Mary Crager said today when she was presented an oversized check to commemorate her $200,000 Illinois Lottery win.  The lucky Rockford resident won a $200,000 top prize on a Joker’s Wild instant ticket.

Crager has lived in Rockford for 15 years.  She was at home on April Fools’ Day when she scratched her winning ticket.  “I immediately called family and friends to tell them I won and of course they all thought it was an April Fools’ joke,” she said.  After discovering she had won $200,000, she signed the back of her ticket right away and visited the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Rockford.  Crager plans to get professional financial advice before investing the windfall, adding, “And yes, I have already filed my 2013 tax return.”

An occasional lottery player, Crager said she buys one instant ticket each month.  She bought her winning Joker’s Wild ticket at Road Ranger, 6010 East Riverside Boulevard in Loves Park.  The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.

Joker’s Wild is a $5 instant ticket with over $5million in prizes and a top prize of $200,000. There are still three top prizes of $200,000 available to be won.  For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
