Champaign, IL—August 15, 2014 — “I like the Crossword tickets because it takes a while to play them. I feel like I get a lot of entertainment for my money,” Carolyn Gaines said when she presented her $75,000 winning Crossword instant ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Springfield. “Now that I won a top prize, I like them even more!”
A lifetime resident of Champaign and the area, Gaines is married with three children and five grandchildren. Her plans for the windfall include making some minor home improvements and taking a trip. “We’ve always wanted to take a train trip somewhere scenic and now that I won this prize, I think we will.”
Gaines said she buys two or three Crossword instant tickets each week. She bought her $75,000 winning ticket at Circle K, 2301 South Mattis Avenue in Champaign. The retailer received $750, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
Crossword is a $5 instant ticket. Three of the $250,000 top prizes on this game have not yet been claimed. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
