O’Fallon, IL—August 21, 2014 — “I never expected to win this much,” Matthew Burroughs said when he presented his $200,000 winning Joker’s Wild instant ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Fairview Heights. “I once won $200 on a scratch ticket and I thought that was a pretty big prize!”
Burroughs was out with friends at Shooters Bar & BBQ in O’Fallon when he bought a Joker’s Wild ticket out of the lottery self-service machine. As he scratched his ticket and revealed the prize amount, people all around him started cheering. “Then I bought a round of drinks for everyone in the bar to celebrate,” he said.
The lifetime resident of O’Fallon plans to consult a professional financial advisor before investing most of the windfall. He also plans to buy his parents a new car and take a vacation.
The winning Joker’s Wild ticket was purchased at Shooters, 113 East First Street in O’Fallon. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
Joker’s Wild is a $5 instant ticket with over $5million in prizes and a top prize of $200,000. Two top prizes of $200,000 remain unclaimed. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
