Chicago, IL—August 11, 2014 — Michael Moore is still in shock that he won the lottery when he decided to use a different strategy to play Lucky Day Lotto.  “For the past year, I played the numbers of my home address. This time, I chose the first numbers that came to mind and it worked!”  The lucky Chicago resident won the $300,000 jackpot prize when his ticket matched all five numbers – 08 - 11 - 12 - 22 – 25 – in the Wednesday, July 30, Lucky Day Lotto evening drawing.

Moore checked his Lucky Day Lotto ticket at the gas station where he bought his ticket. When the clerk verified that his ticket was a big winner, Moore put it in his wallet and drove straight home. “I called the Illinois Lottery Player Hotline to confirm the win. I just couldn’t believe I won the first time I played using random numbers!”

Moore, 42, works in the special events industry.  He plans to save some of the windfall and do something special for his five children and five grandchildren. When asked if he had any advice for other lottery players he said, “Try something new!”

The winning ticket was purchased at Marathon Lake, 204 Lake Street in Maywood.  The retailer will receive a $3,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Lucky Day Lotto drawings are twice a day, seven days a week and now offer bigger and better prizes for the same price, with the same draw times. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
