New Douglas, IL—August 6, 2014 — “There is no way this is real! This cannot be happening to me, this is so awesome,” Corey Hosto said when he was presented a ceremonial check for his $250,000 Illinois Lottery win. “I told my friend that if I ever won $1,000, I would be so happy. I never, ever thought I would win a prize like this!” Hosto was at home when he scratched a $250,000 Jackpot ticket and instantly won a top prize of $250,000.
Hosto, a lifetime resident of New Douglas, works for U.S. Steel in Granite City. He and his wife Jessica recently had their first child, a boy. Their plans for the windfall include paying bills and investing, especially for their son’s education. “This lottery win means that my son can go to college.”
The winning ticket was purchased out of the lottery self-service machine at Jethrow’s Quick Shop, 3640 State Route 162 in Granite City. Jethrow’s will receive a $2,500 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
