Chicago, IL—February X, 2014— Anthony Araque was driving home recently when he got a flat tire. Little did he know the unfortunate experience would lead to a huge financial windfall when he stopped at the nearest gas station to change his tire and buy a lottery ticket.  Araque was sitting in his car when he scratched a Reindeer Riches instant lottery ticket and learned he had won $200,000.

“When I saw the prize amount I quickly changed the spare tire and drove home.   No one in my family was there so I asked my neighbor to look at my ticket to confirm that I wasn’t seeing things,” Araque said.  He then rushed straight to the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines to present his winning ticket.  “I kept checking my spare tire along the way to make sure it wouldn’t stop me from claiming my prize!”

Araque, 23, is an aspiring entrepreneur.  He works for Rocky’s Corporation, a family-owned business dedicated to rental property investments, and hopes to someday run the business.   He plans to use his Lottery prize to buy his second investment property and save a portion for the future. When asked if he had any advice for other players he said, “Try your luck, but be smart with your money.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Kedzie Citgo, 3057 North Kedzie Avenue, in Chicago.  The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Reindeer Riches is a $5 instant ticket with a top prize of $200,000. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
