Collinsville, IL—July 30, 2014 — “I always knew that someday I would win big playing Lucky Day Lotto,”  Brenda Bohn told staff at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Fairview Heights when she presented her $750,000 winning ticket.  Her “someday” was Saturday, July 19, when her Lucky Day Lotto ticket matched all five numbers - 02 - 03 - 12 - 20 – 29 – in the evening drawing.

Bohn stopped at a gas station the day after the drawing and checked her ticket.  She thought she had won $750.  “I was thrilled with that,” she said.  Later she went to the Circle K where she bought her ticket and the clerk told her they had sold the big winning ticket from the previous night’s drawing.  She immediately asked the clerk to double check her ticket.  “The big winner is you!” the clerk exclaimed.

A Collinsville resident for 30 years, Bohn went straight home with her ticket, signed the back of it, “and then I tossed and turned all night long!”  Her plans for the windfall include paying off debts and investing.  “I’ve been out of work for almost a year and I’ve had to spend my savings.  This lottery win means I can get back on my feet while I keep looking for a job.”

Bohn said she buys a Lucky Day Lotto ticket two or three times a week.  She always plays her own numbers, which are family birthdays, and always for an evening drawing.  She bought her winning ticket at Circle K, 2233 Vandalia Avenue in Collinsville.  Today, Illinois lottery officials presented her a ceremonial $750,000 check. The retailer was presented a ceremonial check for $7,500, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.

Bohn is the first big winner since the new Lucky Day Lotto changes took effect July 13, 2014. Lucky Day Lotto drawings are twice a day, seven days a week and now offer bigger and better prizes for the same price, with the same draw times. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
