East Peoria, IL—July 15, 2014 — “After I realized I had won $100,000, I signed the ticket, and put it in my back pocket until I could claim my prize,” Gerry Brown said when he presented his winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Springfield.  The East Peoria resident won the $100,000 jackpot when his $1 Lucky Day Lotto ticket matched all five numbers – 02 - 05 - 07 - 15 – 24 – in the Tuesday, June 17, evening drawing.

Brown, a truck driver for Sharkey Transportation for the past 14 years, is married with two children.  He was at home after a long day of driving when he checked the winning Lucky Day Lotto numbers on the Illinois Lottery website.   “I couldn’t believe I won!  It was midnight and I wasn’t sure I was seeing the numbers right.  I started shaking!”   He plans to use his lottery windfall to remodel his kitchen, take a trip to Las Vegas with his brothers and buy his wife a new car.

When asked if he had any advice for other players Brown said, “Any numbers can come up and anyone can win, you just need to have a ticket.”  He played Lucky Day Lotto using family birthdays and bought his ticket at Little Grocery, 200 East McKinley Street in East Peoria. The retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Lucky Day Lotto drawings are twice a day, seven days a week and now offer bigger and better jackpots for the same price, with the same draw times. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
