Northbrook, IL—June 30, 2014 — Nicole Gideon was out having lunch with her mother when she decided to use the birthdays of her family members to play Lucky Day Lotto.  “After lunch, we stopped to buy a lottery ticket. I like to play Quick Picks, but this time I decided to choose my own numbers, and I won!”  The lucky Northbrook resident won the $200,000 jackpot prize when her ticket matched all five numbers – 02 - 05 - 08 - 12 – 31 – in the Monday, June 9, Lucky Day Lotto midday drawing.

After buying the ticket, Gideon asked her mother to keep it and check it for her after the drawing.  Her mom forgot all about it until finding the ticket in her wallet a week later.  “My mom called me at work to tell me that I won and I thought she was joking!  I couldn’t believe that the numbers I chose actually won!”

Gideon, 25, works as an accountant in downtown Chicago.  She plans to save some of the windfall and take a trip to her native country of Morocco. When asked if she had any advice for other lottery players she said, “Follow your instinct!”

The winning ticket was purchased at RSTN Incorporated, the convenience store located in the lobby of 20 North Clark Street in Chicago.  The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Jackpots for Lucky Day Lotto start at $100,000. Drawings are twice a day, seven days a week with an average of 40,000 winners every day. That’s over 250,000 winners in Illinois each week!  For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
