Chicago, IL—March 14, 2014—“Winning the lottery was the best birthday present ever; I still can’t believe it!” Diane Jenkins told Illinois Lottery staff when she presented her winning Fabulous Fortune instant ticket at the Prize Center in Chicago.   The lucky Chicago resident won a top prize of $4million on her birthday, March 4th.

To celebrate her birthday, Jenkins stopped at a gas station on the way home from work and treated herself to two Fabulous Fortune instant tickets. “I didn’t win anything on the first ticket.  When I scratched my second ticket I couldn’t believe it was a big winner so I handed it to the clerk to double check it. When all she did was smile, I knew.  I feel like I thanked her four million times!

Jenkins, 55, lives on the South side of Chicago and has worked for the United States Postal Service for almost 20 years.  A single mother of two, her plans for the windfall include sharing it with her children and investing for retirement.  “This win will help me in so many ways I can’t even write them all down!” she said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Citgo, 10007 South Michigan Avenue in Chicago.  Today, Illinois Lottery officials presented Jenkins a ceremonial check for $4 million and Citgo a ceremonial check for $40,000, their bonus for selling the winning ticket.  Jenkins chose the cash option of $2,400,000. After required state and federal withholding, she will receive $1,680,000.

Fabulous Fortune is a $20 instant ticket with a top prize of $4,000,000.  There are still three unclaimed $4,000,000 prizes.  For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
