Elk Grove Village, IL—March 13, 2014 — “I can’t believe I won a quarter of a million dollars! I’m living proof that anything’s possible,” Rodney Marino said after scratching an Illinois Lottery $250,000 Crossword instant ticket and winning a top prize of $250,000.
“I like the Crossword ticket because it’s interesting and it takes a few minutes to play.” In addition to occasionally buying instant lottery tickets, Marino said he plays Illinois Lottery Millionaire Raffles and already has his St. Patrick’s Day Millionaire Raffle ticket for the March 17 drawing. “Three years ago, I won $1,000 in the St. Patrick’s Day Raffle!”
Marino, a retired teacher, has lived in Elk Grove Village for three years. When asked about his plans for the windfall he said, “I’m going to spend some, share some and save some.” The winning $250,000 Crossword ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven, 900 Arlington Heights Road in Elk Grove Village. The retailer will receive a $2,500 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket. $250,000 Crossword is a $10 instant ticket. One of the $250,000 top prizes on this game has not yet been claimed. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
