Taylor Springs, IL—March 19, 2014 — “This was my lucky day!” Shirley Ivy said when she presented her winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Fairview Heights. The Taylor Springs resident won the $300,000 jackpot prize when her Quick Pick ticket matched all five numbers – 05 - 14 - 22 - 24 – 30 – in the Thursday March 13 midday drawing.
Ivy discovered her win the day of the drawing when she and her sister checked the winning Lucky Day Lotto numbers on illinoislottery.com. “My sister and I both play Lucky Day Lotto a couple of times a week and we always said that one of us was going to win big someday.” Ivy plans to share the windfall with her friends and family, including her four children, nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. When asked if she had advice for other players she said, “Keep trying!”
The winning ticket was purchased at Litchfield Shell, 1205 West Union Avenue in Litchfield. The retailer will receive a $3,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
