CHICAGO — March 30, 2018 — Illinois gained three new millionaires in the Illinois Lottery St. Patrick’s Day Millionaire Raffle: Carol Vymetal of Woodridge, Jerre Stowers of Divernon and Kevin McInerney of Naperville.

Vymetal has been playing the Illinois Lottery since its inaugural draw in 1974, when she won $1,500. Her advice to other Lottery players is, “Keep trying!” A retiree, Vymetal plans to use her $1,000,000 prize to support her sister-in-law and her family. Vymetal purchased her winning St. Patrick’s Day Millionaire Raffle ticket at Leo’s Wines & Spirits, 3018 Hobson Road, in Woodridge.

When Divernon resident Stowers realized he won $1,000,000, he was so excited that he called his daughter at 2:30 a.m. to tell her first. “Once in a lifetime finally came true,” Stowers said of his big win. A retired electrician, Stowers plans to use his winnings to upgrade his home and give the rest to his children and grandchildren. Stowers purchased his winning St. Patrick’s Day Millionaire Raffle ticket at Circle K, 329 W. State Route 104, in Divernon.

McInerney, a Naperville resident, and his wife were in complete shock when they learned he won $1,000,000. “Anything can happen. If the Cubs can win the World Series, then I can win the St. Patrick’s Day Millionaire Raffle!” McInerney said. He plans to use his winnings for his children’s education. McInernery purchased his winning ticket at Solo Liquors, 1474 E. Chicago Ave., in Naperville.

The winners were drawn on March 18. The St. Patrick’s Day Millionaire Raffle provided players a chance to win one of three (3) $1 million prizes, 250 $1,000 prizes and 9,000 $100 prizes. The retailers who sold the winning $1,000,000 tickets received a bonus of $10,000, or one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket. In all, 9,253 Lottery players won prizes.
