MENDOTA, IL — August 28, 2018 — Mendota resident David Buster won $500,000 when he scratched a Break the Bank instant ticket. “Bahamas, here I come!” Buster said when discussing his win.

In addition to taking a trip to the Bahamas, Buster plans to use his winnings to purchase a new car and help pay for his stepson’s wedding.

Buster purchased his winning Break the Bank ticket at Shell, 700 13th Ave., in Mendota. An Illinois Lottery player for more than 20 years, Buster found out he had a winning ticket while at the Mendota gas station, and was so shocked about his win that he couldn’t talk. The retailer received a bonus of $5,000, or one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Break the Bank is a $10 instant ticket with three top prizes of $500,000, one of which has not been claimed. For more information, please visit illinoislottery.com.
