Chicago Public Library Clerk Wins $550,000 Lucky Day Lotto Prize Online

October 7, 2020

CHICAGO – September was a lucky month for a South Side Chicago woman, who won a $550,000 Lucky Day Lotto jackpot in her first month of playing the Illinois Lottery online.

The Chicago player, a clerk at the Chicago Public Library, won using Quick Pick numbers on the Wednesday, Sept. 2 Lucky Day Lotto evening drawing. At 11 p.m. that night, she received a notification on the Illinois Lottery app letting her know she’d won. “The app said that I was a winner and when I checked to see how much I had won, I screamed! I could not believe it,” she said.

Her son was home that night and was the first of many to find out about her big win. “I told my son first - then I told my daughter, my mom and all of my coworkers the next day,” the winner laughed. “Everyone is so excited for me! They reminded me that I always said I would win the lottery one day.”

The lucky woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, is planning on purchasing a home where her entire family can live. “I want to have my whole family living together, especially right now during the pandemic. I am so excited to live with my mom and daughter again,” she said.

The Chicago player is familiar with winning, especially in the month of September. “I won $5,000 playing Pick 4 a few years ago in September – it just may be my lucky month,” she said.

She has these words of wisdom for other Illinois Lottery players: “I always think to myself, ‘this will be your lucky day’ when I play and it has really worked so far!”
