Illinois Jackpot Brings Home $20,861 Prize for Virden Resident
SPRINGFIELD – Ashley Kahl of Virden, Illinois is one of the latest Illinoisians to bring home a big prize from the Illinois Lottery’s newest game, Fast Play.
While stopping in at her favorite retailer, Kahl noticed the new Illinois Lottery game and decided to purchase a Fast Play Illinois Jackpot ticket.
"I went inside the Circle K and bought a few of the new Illinois Lottery holiday instant tickets and a Fast Play Illinois Jackpot ticket," said Kahl.
"At first I didn't realize I had won, I glanced at the ticket and went out to my car where I looked at the ticket again and scanned it on the Illinois Lottery app,” she said. “A message popped up on my phone that said 'Congratulations! You Won Big!' so I ran back into the store to re-scan the ticket."
What happened next for Kahl was absolutely unforgettable. "After scanning the ticket in the store, I saw the prize amount on the machine of over $20,000. I looked at the screen and then looked at the clerk and started jumping up and down, before I fell to my knees and started crying my eyes out. I was overwhelmed," she said.
She was elated to share the news about her win and reached out to her go-to gal to tell the story about her big moment. “The first person I told was my mom. I always tell her everything first,” said Kahl.
Kahl has exciting plans on the horizon for how she plans to spend her prize, "I bought tickets for my mom and I to go to Las Vegas at the end of the month," she said. “This would be my first time going out there and it would give us both an opportunity to do something fun together."
“My lucky store is the Circle K in Virden, Illinois. The clerks that were working that day are my friends, Clint and Brooke, and they always have a smile on their faces,” she said. The retailers, located at 1000 N. Springfield in Virden, were excited to experience this big winning moment with their customer and friend.
Her advice to fellow Illinois Lottery players is a hopeful one: “Keep playing. Anything is possible!”
With more than 171,500 winning Fast Play tickets in less than two weeks, Illinois Lottery players have brought home more than $1.6 million in total Fast Play Prizes to players across the state.
