Freeport Player Wins $4,780 Pick 4 Prize Playing Nostalgic Numbers
CHICAGO—When Jean Howard awoke, the first thing she did was check the draw results for her previously purchased Pick 4 Illinois Lottery ticket. It was a wonderful way to start the day for the Illinois Lottery player from Freeport who realized that her lucky numbers were a match and she had just cashed in on a $4,780 prize.
“When I woke up and saw 1-0-1-4, it meant that all of my numbers had come in and I’d won. I think I said, ‘Thank God!” laughed Howard.
The player’s matching numbers revealed a prize of $4,780 and Howard revealed that in part she had her daughters and her grandmother to thank for this windfall.
“The inspiration behind my numbers are my girls’ and grandma’s birthdates,” she said, with those birthdays bringing a little extra luck on this occasion.
Continuing on the same vein of keeping it in the family, the first person Howard told about her win was her son and she is already thinking about how she will spend her winnings.
Howard has been playing the Illinois Lottery for the past five years and the winning ticket was purchased at the winner’s favorite retailer, Mobil gas station, on 1730 S. West St. in Freeport, Illinois.
“My lucky store is the Mobil and my favorite lottery retailers are Vahl, Andrea and Josh,” said Howard.
Howard shares that Pick 3 and Pick 4 are her favorite games to play and that she has also won prizes in the past playing other Illinois Lottery games, like the 0-0-7 scratch instant ticket.
Reaffirming the old adage that you’ve got to be in it to win it, Howard’s advice for fellow Lottery players was simply to, “Keep playing.”
