Illinois Lottery Is Giving Away 300 Mega Millions® Tickets To Celebrate $300M-plus Jackpots
Pizza-Lovers Surprised With Free Mega Millions Ticket
CHICAGO—The Mega Millions® and Powerball® jackpots have exceeded a whopping $300 million each! Lottery players are itching to win these colossal prizes, and the Illinois Lottery wants to give some Illinoisans an extra shot at the dough by giving free tickets away with pizza purchases.
On Tuesday, Dec. 22, six pizzerias throughout Chicago are distributing free Mega Millions tickets to 300 lucky customers. Pizzeria locations include Fabulous Freddies, Victor’s Pizza, Bellona’s Pizza, Napoli Pizza, Armand’s Pizzeria and Anthony’s Pizza.
“There is a lot of excitement surrounding the growing jackpots,” says Illinois Lottery Acting Director Harold Mays. “At more than $300 million, these are two of the biggest jackpots we’ve seen all year and currently the biggest in the world. We’d love to see an Illinois Lottery player win one of these life-changing prizes.”
The Mega Millions jackpot is $330 million for tonight’s draw (Tuesday, Dec. 22) and the Powerball jackpot is $321 million for the upcoming draw on Wednesday night. These dueling jackpots have not both been this high at the same time since June of 2019. There is more than half of a billion dollars in prizes up for grabs across both draws.
Mega Millions drawings are every Tuesday and Friday at 10:00 PM CT. More than 1.8 million Mega Millions prizes were won in Illinois in 2020, totaling more than $12.3 million won by Illinois Lottery players.
Powerball drawings are every Wednesday and Saturday at 9:59 PM CT. More than 1.6 million Powerball prizes totaling more than $11.5 million were won in Illinois in 2020. Players must be at least 18 years old to participate in all Illinois Lottery games.
